To boldly tax where no one has taxed before!
On June 25 at 19.30, Damien Macedo (PhD Candidate in Law at the University of Cambridge) discusses the newest context for commercial activity: outer space.
The field of space exploration has evolved since the space race of the 1960s: it is no longer state space agencies venturing off planet, but private entities. As tech billionaires, aspiring asteroid-miners, and pop stars from around the world seek to extend the economy into the cosmos, it is vital to know what laws regulate their actions—and how they will be taxed.

Waiting for Godot
WAITING FOR GODOT by Samuel Beckett
directed by Rupert Mason & Justin Butcher
Two penniless vagrants in rags and ruined boots meet by a barren tree on an abandoned stretch of road
through a wasteland and wait - for the mysterious Godot who, when he comes, will provide their
salvation. They pass the time in banter, philosophical musings, clowning and argument, always hoping
that the longed-for Godot will appear. A bullying, wealthy tyrant named Pozzo appears, leading his
demented slave Lucky on a rope, and converses with them, and later a young boy, a messenger who tells
them that ‘Mr Godot’ sends his apologies, but will certainly come tomorrow.
Nearly 80 years since its composition in Paris in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War,
Samuel Beckett’s tragicomic absurdist masterpiece continues to delight, intrigue, move and inspire with its
rich mix of slapstick clowning, vaudeville vulgarity, lyrical Irish banter and poignant existential yearning.
J.Productions, Milan, is proud to present the first English language public production of Waiting for Godot
in Italy for more than 40 years, since Beckett’s own 1984 production with the San Quentin Drama
Workshop, in partnership with our sponsor the Karma Group. Waiting for Godot will premiere in July
2026 at the Volterra International Festival Teatro Romano.
‘Samuel Beckett’s groundbreaking play, with its tragicomic take on existence, the derelict
dignity of the two tramps, and the human capacity for for endurance in a seemingly senseless
universe, matches our cultural moment.’

Straight from the Author's Mouth
Come and hear Jason Arkles talk about his novel, ‘Rude’s Awakening’.
An evening you won’t want to miss, so put it in your diaries now!
More details to come, so watch this space…
A true story of the Romantic Revolution.
A sensitive and silent soul born into the turmoil of the French Revolution, François Rude defies his working-class origins to excel as a student of sculpture, winning top honors at the world’s most prestigious art school in Paris. Achieving victory demanded that Rude deny his natural impulses and submit to the cold official style of the Empire; but Napoleon’s exile after the battle of Waterloo cast Rude’s future into chaos.
In this moment of profound upheaval, Rude throws away his future as a Prix de Rome winner to follow his unrequited love, a talented painter and the daughter of a wanted Bonapartist, into an exile of his own making.
With little to lose, he struggles in obscurity to reinvent his art; it's just the beginning of the arduous transformation into the man and artist Rude was meant to be - and along the way, he will change sculpture forever.
Rude's Awakening is an historically accurate novel set in the world of nineteenth century sculpture, told by a sculptor and art historian in a unique position to tell it. Jason Arkles' sculptural training descends from the revolutionary methods François Rude inaugurated, six generations ago.
